Standards Registry

Navigation | About | Data Dictionary | API

The NSDI Standards Registry is an official online repository managed by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) that catalogs all approved geospatial standards supporting the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). It provides authoritative information on standards for data formats, metadata, services, and interoperability protocols, including FGDC-endorsed standards and those from international bodies such as ISO and OGC. The registry’s purpose is to ensure consistency and compliance across federal, state, local, tribal, academic, nonprofit, and private-sector geospatial activities. By offering a centralized reference point, it helps stakeholders adopt common standards, improve data quality, and enable seamless data sharing and integration. Ultimately, the NSDI Standards Registry promotes interoperability, reduces duplication, and supports the NSDI’s mission to deliver accessible, high-quality geospatial data for decision-making and innovation.

Noctice: Standards listed in the NSDI Standards Registry are provided for reference purposes only, unless explicitly indicated otherwise. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement or adoption by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC). Standards that have been formally endorsed or adopted by the FGDC are clearly marked with an appropriate tag.
